Worcester homes, from Georgian to the 1990s
Some of the oldest homes sit close to the centre. Houses on Barbourne Terrace date from about 1820 to 1840. Across the river, St John's has been a conservation area since 1969. Lark Hill, off London Road, has been one since 1980.
Barbourne and the Arboretum area have many Victorian and Edwardian homes. In houses this old the wiring may have been changed many times. A test shows what is safe and what needs work.
Ronkswood was mostly built in the late 1940s. Warndon Villages came much later. Building started in the 1980s and the first village opened in 1996. It has four parts: the Harleys, the Lyppards, the Berkeleys and the Meadows.
The Severn floods often. Hylton Road is one of the first roads to close. In December 2024 the Environment Agency warned of flooding to homes on Newport Street, Park View Terrace, The Butts and King Stephen's Mount.
